The Arrow tool is used as a general selection cursor. Use the Arrow tool to select and move elements which have been placed on your fax sheet. Tap and drag (T-&-D) in the fax sheet construction to make a selection rectangle which will select anything it touches. A selected item will have a dotted line around it, with a thin rectangle across the top and a box in the lower right corner. The selected item can be resized by T-&-D in the lower right box, and it can be moved by T-&-D on the thin rectangle. Selected items can also be aligned in various ways by first selecting the items you wish to align, and then clicking on the Align button which appears at the bottom of the screen. Selected items can also be deleted by tapping the Remove button which appears when items have been selected.
The
Text tool is used to create text blocks, headlines, etc. T-&-D
to create a text block, then tap once on the newly created block to bring
up the text editing window. Write in your new text and choose font, size,
face, and justification preferences from the diamond choice lists. You
can also delete the current text block by clicking on the Delete button
at the bottom left of the editing window.
The To: tool is used to create automatic personal information text
blocks. Simply T-&-D to place a To: block, and then tap once
on the newly placed block to bring up a dialog box with a list of fields
to include. To: text blocks can be configured to hold Sender's Name,
Company, Voice Number, Fax Number, the Receiver's Number, the number of
pages, time, date, etc. Each of these fields are automatically filled with
the relevant information by the Newton PDA when the fax is sent. Blocks
can be deleted by tapping the Delete button.
The Notes tool is used to place a space for a note on the cover sheet.
T-&-D a box to hold a note. When sending a fax from Newton PDAs, the
user is allowed to enter a note before sending. If you wish to be able
to write a note on your cover sheet, include a note. Tapping on the note
box allows you to delete the box, or toggle the border around the note
box on or off.
The Square
and Circle tools draw their respective shapes by T-&-D. Tap the shape
to set line thickness, line color, fill color, or delete the item.
The Perpendicular tool draws lines at 0, 45, and 90 degrees.
The Free tool draws lines at whatever angle you choose. T-&-D to create
a line. The only modification which can be done to a line is to delete
it by selecting it with the Arrow tool and tapping the Delete button.
The ClipArt tool allows you to incorporate clip art into your faxes. Along
with the Newton package Scrapbook you can tap the ClipArt button
to bring up a dialog box which will allow you to view and import any Scrapbook
compatible clip art into your Fax Cover. T-&-D the clip art you wish
to place from the Scrapbook window right onto the Fax Cover. Tap
the placed art to bring up a dialog box which allows you to resize or delete
the artwork.
The Navigation tool is used to fine-tune your Fax Cover Sheet. Tap
the Navigation tool icon to bring up the Navigation Control. Select
any item using the Arrow tool, and then tap on one of the four directional
arrows on the Navigation tool. The number in the center of the Navigation
tool is the number of pixels to move at a time. Tap the number to change
the number of pixels moves per tap. [ New ] The New button creates a new blank Fax Cover Sheet for you to modify.
The Envelope
icon allows you to Build Page which creates your Fax Cover Sheet
and makes it ready for use. You can also Preview the sheet or modify
the Settings.
