Super NotePad is an enhancement package for the built-in Newton Notes application. The changes brought about by Super NotePad all center around the top of the Notes screen. Six arrows have been added to the top of the Notes screen, along with a pulldown menu list of all the notes in the currently selected folder ("the 5 notes in folder" diamond pulldown). The two arrows on the left jump to the first/last note in the currently selected folder. The paired dark arrows on the right jump to the beginning of the previous/next note. The empty arrows on the right move one screen forward/backward. The diamond pulldown menu allows you to jump to the note you want without moving to the list view of all the notes. Simply tap the diamond menu for a list of all notes in the current folder, and make your selection.
Super NotePad also includes Tags which are a new way to organize and search through your note items. The new icon next to the action and routing buttons in the top right corner is the Tags icon. A note may be "tagged" by selecting one or multiple tags from the Tags icon. Then, you may define different searches using the Edit Filters option in the Folders pulldown menu. The new filter is then defined using the Edit Filters menu.
Once a note is "tagged", the tag can be used to sort and select notes tagged with the same tags, or a combination of tags and folders may be used in a particular filter. This way, notes with the same tag, but in different folders, may be viewed as a group of notes. The Folders pulldown also allows folders to be password encoded with the Protekt function. Simply select Protekt and enter a password, and Super NotePad will require a password to access the folder. ***Note: if you have "tagged" a note and have a filter which shows all notes with that tag, the note in the protekted folder will not appear when the filter is used to display notes. The action button allows you to Encrypt an individual note as well. Also, tapping the title of a note will bring up a list of recently used titles, to replace the default time-and-date title. You can even sort notes by common titles!
When editing Checklist notes, SNP allows you to sort items by completion or alphabetically. You can also remove any finished items to focus on unfinished items.
