Tips for working with "Zip" file archives
1. EXTRACT THE APPLICATION FROM THE ZIP FILE: After the download is complete and the file is saved to your computer you need to expand (open) the "Zip" archive file. Zip files are very common archive method for the Internet. They allow several files to be compressed and transferred as one small file. Many computers already have utility programs (such as WinZip or StuffIt Expander) for extracting these types if files. If you have such a utility, use it to expand the archive. If you don't have the necessary program for expanding a ZIP archive, you can download a freeware or shareware program from one of these web sites: o Browse the PC archive utilities at Download.com: http://www.download.com/pc/list/0,339,0-d-78-104-d-1,00.html?st.dl.cat78.sub s.sub104 o Mac or PC StuffIt Expander Freeware: http://www.aladdinsys.com/expander/index.html o PC Windows WinZip Evaluation Version: http://www.winzip.com/ddchome.htm 2. INSTALLING THE APPLICATION ON TO YOUR PALM COMPUTING DEVICE: Once you have extracted the files from the Zip archive, then you need to get the application into your Palm device. Open the Palm Desktop program that came with your Palm Device and read the instructions for installing applications onto your Palm device. Basically, you just need to put the Palm into the docking cradle and select "install" from the Palm Desktop or the Palm Install program. It will ask you where the application file is. Browse to the archive you just extracted in step 1 and find the file that ends with ".prc". Once the installation is finished then just hit the "applications" button on your Palm Device and the newly installed application should be listed there. If you've tried all of these steps and are still having problems then the application (PRC) file may have been damaged during transfer. Try re-downloading the file and re-installing the application.
